League Tag is a modified game where players remove tags (usually Velcro strips attached to a belt) instead of tackling. When a defender pulls off a tag, the ball carrier must stop and play the ball—similar to a normal rugby league tackle but without physical contact.
Players aren’t tackled to the ground—tags are removed instead.
The game emphasizes: Speed Evasion, Passing, Footwork, Communication
Ideal for: Juniors, Women’s competitions, Social teams, Mixed-gender competitions
The game keeps: Try scoring, Kicking rules (modified), Defensive lines, Set restarts
League Tag is one of the fastest-growing participation formats because it allows people to enjoy rugby league without heavy contact.
